Third district schools get educational tools
Elementary and secondary schools in the six municipalities and one component city of the third district of Cebu received educational software amounting to P4.99 million as learning aids in Mathematics and Science.
The educational materials include learning software, personal computers, and Math and Science modules.
Prior to the distribution, Garcia said he wants to bridge the gap between elementary and high school students in the grassroots level.
“My goal is to bridge the divide and put elementary and high school students in the countryside at par with their counterparts in areas in the metropolis,” Garcia said.
“If technology is making learning easier, only those with access to technology will learn more and faster. Those who don’t have access to available technology will lag farther and faster behind,” he added.
He said he takes pride in this “small contribution” in bridging the gap.
“This is just the start. I will devote most of the resources of my office for the education of children in the third district,” he said.
The Department of Education has been tapped to arrange the teachers’ training in the use of the learning software. Under the purchase agreement, Softmax Software Solutions of New Delhi, India - the software developer - will provide free training to teachers on the use of their products. — Gerome M. Dalipe/MEEV
