Man shot dead, another hurt in two incidents

-

A scavenger was found dead with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and back along T. Padilla Extension in barangay Tejero yesterday. The police are now looking into the angle that the victim was mistakenly shot by a security guard who thought he was stealing  something from the area.

The Homicide Section of Cebu City Police Office identified the victim as Antonio Lucay-Lucay, 38, a resident of sitio Villagonzalo I, barangay Tejero, who did not make it alive to the Cebu City Medical Center.

Police are now verifying reports that a certain “Noli”, a security guard of a nearby electrical supply store, shot the victim as alleged by another security guard.

The victim’s mother, Anecita along with the victim’s sister Ivarita, alleged that they were already sleeping at the sidewalk when they heard several gunshots from the said place.

When they went to the area to verify they were surprised to see the victim sprawled on the ground bloodied and they rushed him to CCMC.

The Mobile Patrol Group and the Special Weapons and Tactics team who responded to the incident failed to arrest perpetrator.

Homicide Section investigators suspect that the victim might have been mistaken for a thief because he was carrying a sack with scrap metal and plastic containers at that time.

Meanwhile, a “masyador” was shot outside a cockpit in sitio Lacdon, barangay Cambuhawi, Balamban town, last Sunday.

The victim who suffered several gunshot wounds to the body was identified as Felix Intapa, 37, a native of Bantayanon, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, and temporarily residing in barangay Arpili of the said town.

PO2 Hannibal Larida of Balamban police said the victim was on his way home waiting for a ride outside the said cockpit when two unidentified men on a motorcycle stopped near him and the one riding pillion got off the vehicle then shot him several times before returning to the motorcycle.

Police found a live .45 cal. bullet and four empty shells of the same caliber at the crime scene.

They surmise the victim was suspected of being a thief in their neighborhood in Arpili but the investigation is still open to other possible motive that might come up later.  -Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
