“Luage Kiosk” unveiled

-

In honoring fallen policeman PO1 Noriel Luage who was killed in the line of duty last month, the Cebu City Police Office unveiled yesterday the marble slab that formally named a kiosk inside the camp after Luage.

The kiosk, a circular waiting shed made of bamboo, was formally named “Luage’s Kiosk” in memory of the policeman who was killed in an operation against Ramon Jaime Baclohan in barangay Zapatera in the search for evidence in high-profile murders in Metro Cebu.

Baclohan who shot and killed Luage was also killed by another policeman during the operation.  He was suspected as the contractor of hired killers in Metro Cebu.

Luage graduated from the PNP Regional Training School 2006 Bigkis Class, only a handful of his batchmates made it to the inauguration yesterday as some were already deployed to various beat patrols for the procession.

The event was attended by Sr. Supt. Arnulfo Perez, the chief of staff of the Police Regional Office-7, Supt. Pablo Labra, city councilor Agustus Pe and Luage’s widow, Rahama.

Perez said, it is one way of honoring the sacrifice of Luage and said young policemen should emulate Luage’s deeds without being discouraged by the lack of protective gear.

Perez said the PRO-7 will try to ask the PNP hierarchy to buy protective gear like bullet-proof vests and Kevlar helmets so that policemen can be protected.

Pe said the city government can help the CCPO procure this equipment but in limited numbers only. — Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
