Man robbed by former worker

A businessman was robbed by two men, one of whom was later found to be a former employee whom he fired for personal reasons, in sitio Tabuk, barangay Camaligbato, Danao City, yesterday morning.

SPO4 Edgar Gomez of the Danao City Police Station said Artemio Flores, 53, was about to open the car of his service multicab in front of his house around 5 a.m. when suspect Lito Gomez, accompanied by another man came and pointed pistols at him.

Flores, who was heading to the market to open up shop, gave up his bag that contained P63,000.  After the robbers left he immediately went to the police station and reported the incident.

The police were able to arrest Gomez (not related the policeman) but his accomplice escaped.  The bag containing the money was also not recovered.

Flores said the arrested suspect was his former helper whom he fired for personal reasons, the police believe that Gomez robbed Flores out of revenge.

The suspect is now temporarily detained at the police station while charges are set to be filed against him today.  — Garry B. Lao/BRP
