Another Akrho “hitman” falls

-

An Alpha Kappa Rho member who is alleged to be another hitman of the fraternity was arrested yesterday by the operatives of the intelligence branch of the Mandaue City Police Office.

Leonardo Vallenas, 19, of Hernan Cortes Street in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, was arrested during a raid on his house by the team led by intelligence branch chief Marvin de Pas past 7 a.m. yesterday.

He was arrested by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Rogelio Lucmayon of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 6 last December 4.

The police were able to recover a .357 caliber revolver and a .38 caliber with 10 live ammunitions and one empty shell.

In an interview, De Pas said the raid was their follow-up operation after the arrest of another Akrho hitman, Aristotle Aves, and his other companion, Jesus Singson, Monday night inside a ship bound for Ormoc City.

De Pas said the raid on Vallenas’ house happened after the residents of the area informed them that Singson had frequented the place.

The report they received said although Singson lives in a sitio near Vallenas’ house, Singson would most of the times visit the place on board a black motorcycle.

Vallenas’ place, the report added,  would sometimes be used as the meeting place of Akrho members who would even leave their weapons under his care.

But De Pas said they have yet to confirm if the suspect is also a hitman of the fraternity because based on the records of the Subangdaku Police Station, Vallena was a notorious personality in the area.

Vallena is now detained at the police station pending the filing of appropriate charges against him. — Flor Z. Perolina/LPM
