Policeman’s house in Pilar burglarized

-

The house of a policeman at barangay Upper Poblacion in Pilar, Camotes Island was robbed and the thieves ran off with P60,000, a necklace, and the policeman’s .38 caliber revolver.

Investigators surmised that the burglary could have taken place early morning of Wednesday when the house owner, SPO3 Elizar Arellano was in Cebu City to be with his wife who was about to give birth.

Pilar Police investigator SPO1 Demetrio Carel said the burglary was discovered when Arellano’s neighbor, Apple Jane Ginabasan, happened to pass by the house and saw its back door already opened even if nobody was in it at the time.

Responding policemen found the place in total disarray, and the burglar, whose identity is still unknown up to now, reportedly gained entrance to Arellano’s back door, which was then forced open.

Carel said he already invited 12 people for interrogation and finger printing to determine if any of them might have been involved in the burglary. — Garry B. Lao/RAE
