Madridejos Mayor Salvador “Sally” dela Fuente asked the Cebu Provincial Police Office to replace the town’s police chief for failing to stop illegal fishing, and because he wants someone who is a native of the town to occupy the position.
Dela Fuente yesterday went to see CPPO director Carmelo Valmoria to seek the immediate replacement of Insp. Jose Rovic Villarin.
Dela Fuente said that the issue of crime has been addressed in the town, but with the exception of illegal fishing.
The mayor is eyeing Insp. Jaime Santillan, who is currently assigned at the Theft and Robbery Section of the Talisay City Police Station, to be detailed at the Madridejos because he is a native of the town.
Valmoria said he sees no problem if the mayor wants to replace Villarin, provided that he also submits the names of other candidates to the position for evaluation. — Garry B. Lao/BRP
