Authorities are now hunting down two men who might be involved in the killing of a hospital nursing aide inside his house in barangay Duljo-Fatima Friday night.
The 30-year-old Raul Roy Vargas, a nursing aide of the Mactan Doctor’s Hospital, was found dead under the bed in his room with multiple stab wounds in various parts of his body.
A blade of a broken scissors, a part of a broken stainless knife, and a wooden handle of a broken knife were among the items found at the crime scene by police investigators.
Homicide investigator PO1 Emmanuel Aragon said they are now on a manhunt of the two possible suspects: a certain Jerlan Rodriguez, of sitio Bohol Village in barangay Duljo-Fatima, and another unidentified man named only for now as John Doe.
Aragon said the parents of Rodriguez told the police that their son did not come home since November 14 and they never had any idea of his whereabouts.
Melbourne Nuñez, the victim’s cousin whose house was near Vargas’s ancestral house, narrated that at 11pm of November 15 he saw Vargas arrived from work.
Nuñez said that Vargas asked from him the key of the latter’s house and was somewhat in a hurry because Rodriguez was allegedly there at the time. Rodriguez was reportedly the former lover of Vargas, Nuñez told the police.
Then at about 5:30 p.m. of November 16, Nuñez wondered why Vargas did come out of the house as usual.
This prompted Nuñez to verify and, upon entering the house, he saw blood scattered on the floor of the sala, the comfort room, and finally in the bedroom where he discovered Vargas’s body.
Nuñez and Joseph Estlamado, an errand boy and a neighbor of the victim, told the police that the last time they saw Vargas alive was inside the house, allegedly with Rodriguez and another unidentified man.
They added that Rodriguez, who was wearing white short pants, allegedly bought two bottles of beer on the evening of November 15.
No robbery took place because the victim’s valuables were left behind, said Aragon who said that the police are now looking into the real killers of Vargas and the motive behind the killing. — Garry B. Lao/RAE
