Search for 10 outstanding cops in service now open

The Rotary Club of New Manila East and the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. in cooperation with PSBank is again jointly undertaking a search for the country’s Ten Outstanding Policemen in Service designed to highlight the efforts of the police in maintaining peace and order and safeguarding the community.

The competition is a career achievement award wherein the entire career contribution of the nominee is evaluated like organizing activities or projects involving the community and specific cases that the nominee has solved.

This search is open to all policemen who have already served for seven years for the Non-Commissioned Officers’ category; while for the Officers’ category, one must have a rank of Inspector to Superintendent at the time of submission of the nomination form and the documents.

For those previously Non-Commissioned Officers who have been promoted to a Commission Officer, he/she should have served as a Commission Officer for at least two years.  Moreover, a nominee with a rank of Superintendent should not be scheduled for promotion until after the final judging phase which will happen sometime in June next year.

Nominees should be of good moral character and must have not been adjudged guilty or liable in any administrative and criminal case. Those who have been finalists of the competition for two consecutive times shall be requested to have the rest of the year before becoming eligible to join again.

Nominees must not be members of Rotary Club or a depositor of the PSBank or Metrobank.

The search will be looking for 10 awardees; four of them will be taken from the Commissioned Officers category while six are from the Non-Commissioned Officers category.  The organizers also said a slot allotted for a female Non-Commissioned Officer if there are at least 20 female NCOs nominated.

According to Metrobank representative Eduardo Sulwaga, the prize at stake is doubled from the previous awarding.  Metrobank has allocated P200,000 for each awardee and a trophy that would be personally handed by President Gloria Arroyo.

However, policemen must be nominated by either his/her direct superior, PNP regional director, city or municipal mayor, provincial governor, Rotary Club, NGOs, church organizations and media outlets. The immediate superior of the nominee should either be the nominator or the endorser.

For those who want to nominate a policeman, they must obtain a copy of the nomination forms available in all police stations in the country, the nearest Metrobank branches, PSBank branches and selected Rotary Clubs.

They can also download the forms from the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. website (www.mbfoundation.org.ph); PSBank website (www.psbank.com.ph) or the PNP website (www.pnp.gov.ph). — Edwin Ian Melecio/MEEV
