Edito Sasan, 49, a resident of barangay Cantao-an allegedly barged into the house of Marcelino Basalan, 45, a resident of sitio Tayad-Tayad, Cantao-an, and beat him up after he found out Basalan did not support him during the barangay elections and instead threw his support behind the winning candidate Fe Cudoy.
PO1 Miguel Castañares of the Naga police station yesterday said based on the allegation of the victim’s wife, the suspect barged into their house while her husband was lying on a hammock.
The suspect approached her husband and pistol-whipped him with a .45 cal. pistol, bringing him down. Not contented, Sasan allegedly kicked Basalan in different parts of the body, breaking his nose and causing him bruises and injuries.
After the mauling, the suspect left the house and opened fire on the lampposts along the road.
Cudoy, in an interview over dyHP yesterday, said she and Sasan were fielded by Chiong against incumbent Cantao-an barangay captain Mercy Alforque, and she won.
