Three houses were destroyed while four others were damaged during a fire in sitio Sampaguita, barangay Tejero, yesterday.
SFO1 Virgilio Niñal of the Cebu City Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire alarm was received by their office around 11:54 a.m. and was put under control five minutes after they arrived at the scene.
Damage was pegged at P140,000, there were no reports of injuries or deaths.
Most of the houses were made of light materials prompting fire fighters to raise the incident to the second alarm.
The fire allegedly started from the house of a certain Juliet Dequitos and quickly spread to the neighboring houses. Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
Cebu City fire marshal Esmael Codilla earlier warned the public not to leave lighted candles at their altar unattended as what Filipinos mostly do during All Saints Day and All Souls Day.
