DOH: Dengue cases in Samboan controlled
The Department of Health announced that dengue cases in Samboan town have already been controlled with the combined efforts of the agency and the town officials.
Recently, DOH confirmed that dengue is still prevalent in Samboan with 14 new cases recorded this month.
DOH Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit nurse Reynan Cimafranca said that from January to September, five cases were recorded there. However, 14 new cases and one death were recorded recently.
The town’s Poblacion is identified as the “much affected area with victims ranging from five to 11 years old.”
He added that so far, DOH had already carried out an entomologic survey in the area and had checked the possible breeding grounds of mosquitoes.
Cimafranca also said that they had already conducted a chemical impregnation in the affected area to kill mosquitoes.
“Residents have cleaned up their surroundings and we cleaned up one school there where a number of victims were reported. We checked for possible breeding sites of dengue-carrying mosquitoes,” he said. – Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV
