-

One woman was killed while four others were injured after a multicab fell into a creek after its engine died while maneuvering a steep road in barangay South Poblacion, San Fernando town Saturday afternoon.

Based on the investigation conducted by PO1 Alvin Enan of the San Fernando Police Station, the multicab with plate number YBR-263 owned by Joan Iwanaga of N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City, was driven by a certain Aurelio Siarot, a resident of barangay Lantawan in San Fernando town.

Siarot was with his parents Angelo and Remedios and neighbors Roger Morales and Dionela Geraldez, all residents of barangay Lantawan, San Fernando, on their way to the market.

However, before they could get there the engine died and the multicab rolled off the steep slope and fell into a creek.

The victims were immediately brought to the South General but Remedios was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, in sitio Panangatan, barangay Bawo, Sogod town, a motorcycle-for-hire driver and an 83-year-old man are now in serious condition after they figured in a vehicular accident Sunday afternoon.

Romel dela Cruz, a resident of sitio Abo, barangay Poblacion, Sogod, and Angelo Comendador, 83, of sitio Panangatan, were brought to the Juan Dosado District Hospital in Sogod but were later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

Based on the report submitted by the Sogod Police Station to Cebu Provincial Police Office, Dela Cruz was driving a black Honda XRM motorcycle with plate number OW-5009 but upon reaching sitio Panangatan, Comendador suddenly crossed the street and was hit.   — Flor Z. Perolina/BRP
