Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch arrested three persons and confiscated from them 59 ampules of Nubain in a raid in barangay Kamagayan the other night.
The raiding team led by Police Senior Insp. George Ylanan, chief of the CIIB, raided barangay Kamagayan after a tipster called their office to inform them of the rampant sale and use of Nubain in the area.
Upon reaching the place, the informant then guided them to a lodging house where a certain Junard was said to be selling ampules of Nubain.
During the raid, police were able to arrest three men who were caught in the act of using the drug. They were identified as Domingo Saberon, 30, married, and a resident of barangay Wireless, Mandaue City. Seized from him were a disposable syringe and two ampules of Nubain.
Police also arrested Steve Delima, 37, married, of Urgello, Cebu City. Also confiscated from him were a disposable syringe and two ampules of Nubain. The third suspect was identified as Cris June Degamo, 21, married, and a resident of the said place. Police were able to seize from his possession five ampules of Nubain.
Ylanan said that Junard eluded arrest because his men failed to recognize him. The suspect stealthily mixed with the crowd of kibitzers and managed to flee. However, he left behind 50 ampules of Nubain which were supposed to be sold to his customers that night.
The three suspects are presently detained at Camp Sotero Cabahug pending the filing of appropriate charges against them. — Flor Z. Perolina/MEEV
