Dads to meet health officials on how to deal with dengue

-

Health officials in Central Visayas, including the heads of the Cebu City Health Department and Cebu City Medical Center, have been invited to appear during the regular session of the City Council this Wednesday to discuss on how to promptly deal with the increasing number of dengue cases in the city.

City secretary Estrella de los Reyes was instructed to invite an official from the Department of Health-7 regional office who would discuss on the rising dengue cases here. City Health officer Fe Cabugao and Dr. Tomas Fernandez of the CCMC management team were also invited.

The City Council headed by Vice Mayor Michael Rama expressed alarm over the rising number of dengue cases last week which already reached close to 1,000 with 24 fatalities.

Two of the 24 fatalities were residents of barangay Poblacion Pardo, while three were from Bulacao.

This prompted the city to declare the two barangays under “state of calamity” so the city may use its calamity funds to help control the spread of the virus.

Health officials said they already expect a rise in dengue cases in the rainy months of September to December. — Rene U. Borromeo/MEEV
