Man kills lover of his ex-live-in partner

A 29-year-old man yesterday dawn stabbed dead a 39-year-old man who he suspected of being the “new-found love” of his former common-law wife.

The killing took place right inside the house of the suspected killer’s former common-law wife in sitio Lower Acacia in barangay Kinasang-an.

Police investigators said the suspect was Condrado Manimog, a construction worker, while the victim was Akhmid Tuyor, who was his neighbor back in Mambaling.

Investigator PO3 Rogelio Nedamo and two others went to the area and found Tuyor’s body already outside the house of Adela Ybañez, the woman who was allegedly the central part of the love story.

Nedamo told The Freeman that Tuyor was at first sleeping on a plastic bench inside the house of Ybañez when Manimog stabbed him several times, then dragged Tuyor out of the house and stabbed him several times more.

Manimog immediately left the scene but surrendered later to SPO4 Jaime Repompo and SPO1 Romeo Solon. He also yielded to the policemen the murder weapon.

In an interview with The Freeman inside the detention cell of the Cebu City Police Office, Manimog admitted committing the crime but insisted that he did it out of jealousy.

Manimog said he and Ybañez were living together before but they parted ways when she moved to Kinasang-an to live with her relatives there.

There were gossips that Manimog later heard that Ybañez was already having a love affair with another man. Manimog decided to go to the place but it was supposedly to convince Ybañez and two children to reunite with him and live together again in Mambaling.

Manimog found Tuyor in the woman’s place but he had no idea that Tuyor could be the man the rumourmongers were referring to.

The two men, being neighbors back in Mambaling, even had a drink together but Manimog recalled that Ybañez was insisting Tuyor to stop drinking and go to sleep instead.

By dawn, Manimog inquired from the other men in the area if Tuyor was the lover of Ybañez. He got a positive answer and this drove him to go up the house and stabbed the sleeping Tuyor. — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
