An inmate, who escaped from his jailguards while being treated in a hospital last year, was captured at sitio Sambag 2 in Banawa of barangay Guadalupe yesterday morning.
City Police director, Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, said residents in the area tipped off the police about the presence there of the 18-year-old escapee Jeslie Labra.
Members of the Mobile Patrol Group, PO1 Edcel Peticio, and brothers PO1 Richard Condes and field trainee PO1 Orland Condes, immediately responded and arrested Labra while roaming in the area where he was also residing.
Labra, who has been facing a frustrated homicide case, slipped out of the guards of the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center that kept watch of him while treated for a particular illness in the Cebu City Medical Center on February 10, 2006.
He is now detained in the MPG cell while papers are being processed for his turnover to BBRC authorities.
Comendador said the three policemen that caught the escapee are set to receive commendations from his office today for a job well done.
He said these would help boost the moral of the policemen, and show them that he does not only punish the scalawags in the force but also acknowledges good performance in their duty. — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
