A newsboy landed in the hospital after he was shot by a group of youths believed to be members of a gang while he was on his way home from collecting money from subscribers yesterday noon along T. Villa Street, barangay T. Padilla.
Lucio Capoy, 20, of Sikatuna Street, barangay Zapatera, suffered a gunshot wound to the left forearm and a graze in the back.
He identified one of the four assailants as Acean Pukdol, a known member of a certain gang called the Bloods.
PO2 Julius Mabunay of the Homicide Section said that the victim was riding his bicycle when he happened to pass by the group of the assailant and he smiled at them. Pukdol reportedly nodded and smiled back.
But to his surprise he heard gunshots fired from behind and he felt numbness in his left forearm and back prompting him to sped off towards a barangay outpost and seek help.
The barangay tanods immediately brought him to the Cebu City Medical Center while the assailants fled the area.
Mabunay said the victim might have been mistaken as a member of a certain gang called the Crips, but the victim denied this. — Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
