Road collision kills 1, injures 2 in Moalboal

At least one person was killed while two other people were in critical condition when the two motorcycles they were riding figured in a head-on collision in Poblacion West in Moalboal town Sunday evening.

The dead victim was identified as Gregorio Licaros while those seriously hurt were identified as brothers Arnel and Joel Deniega.

PO2 Emirito Sansan, of the Moalboal Police Station, said the Deniega brothers were on their way to barangay Poblacion West while Licaros was on his way to barangay Basdiyot when the incident happened.

He added that the strong impact of the collision threw the Deniega brothers a few meters away from their motorcycle. Licaros was already lying unconscious beside his motorcycle when found by rescuers.

The three victims were brought to Badian District Hospital where Licaros was pronounced dead on arrival. The Deniega brothers were later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City due to their critical condition.

Sansan said the place of the incident was too dark and the two motorcycles were traveling without their lights on. — Flor Z. Perolina/LPM
