Valmoria clarifies probe on Carcar police chief

Cebu Provincial Police director Carmelo Valmoria clarified that the investigation he ordered against Carcar police chief Jason Mangaron was regarding his alleged illegal activities based on the accusations of six of his policemen.

The six alleged that their chief failed to hand over to the real owner a stolen motorcycle that they had recovered.

Instead, Mangaron allegedly allowed his asset, a certain Boy Aser, to use the vehicle allegedly for some illegal activities, the policemen said.  Valmoria also ordered a probe against the six policemen who Mangaron had earlier sanctioned for releasing three of the ten drug suspects they arrested last week.

Mangaron welcomed the investigation to clarify everything but said the six policemen were only trying to get back at him when they accused him of involvement in illegal activities.  Flor Z. Perolina/RAE
