Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has reportedly failed to get the initial endorsement of the Iglesia ni Cristo.
Garcia along with her father, former governor Pablo Garcia, and her younger brother, Capitol consultant Pablo John, who are congressional aspirants in Cebu''s second and third districts, respectively; with Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, Jr. sought the endorsement of INC chief minister Eraño "Ka Erdie" Manalo in his office in Manila last week.
Pablo John said they arrived at the church central administration office bringing with them their platforms of government to be presented to Manalo. But he said they "just waited in vain."
The INC, founded in 1914, traditionally issues endorsements during elections. Political observers consider this endorsement as "crucial since members of said church vote as a bloc."
