Yapha, Martinez see landslide win

-
Gubernatorial candidate Antonio Yapha and his runningmate, Clavel Asas-Martinez, projected a landslide victory against Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez in the May 14 elections.

During a press conference yesterday with several of their sixth district candidates, Martinez, who is in her last term in Congress as representative for the fourth district, said they are confident of winning by a wide margin.

"Yapha is running as a unifying factor. Makadaut gyud kini sa kandidatura ni Garcia," Martinez said, adding that their political forces in the third and fourth districts are certainly a force to reckon with.

Yapha, the incumbent representative in the third district, said his bailiwick and that of Martinez are ready against any cheating that their opponents will resort to during the elections.

"Hadlok mi sa ilang tikas pero naa man sad mi gikonsulta nga nga sindikato kung unsa-un namo pagkahibalo nga gitikasin mi. Nobody has the monopoly sa paghimo og kabuang. Kitaon ta lang ang katag inig human sa eleksiyon," Martinez said.

Martinez added that Garcia''s camp has been claiming that it will win in the coming elections because of its money.

"Sigi sila palakaw og istorya nga daghan sila og kwarta. Pila man g''yud ang ilang kwarta kay mag-iniphanay ta," she said.

But Martinez said she is hoping that no vote buying and cheating will occur during the elections. - Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/LPM
