April 18, 2007 | 12:00am
Department of Environment and Natural Resources Sec. Angelo Reyes will be in Cebu today for the celebration of Earth Month.
DENR undersecretary Francisco Bravo, who came as part of his advance party, said Reyes will address the National Reprogramming Workshop among all regional technical directors and at the same time oversee the Earth Month’s planned activities by DENR Regional Field Unit-7.
"Stewardship in Action" is this year’s theme of the Earth Month celebration, which will culminate on April 22, the International Earth Day.
The convenors of the Earth Day - government, church, industries and the Civil Society - shall focus on green governance, sacraments, economics and choices.
The convenors will campaign for clean air, clean water, water security, sustainable resource extraction, biodiversity conservation, climate change reversal and garbage free communities.
On April 21, a cleanup campaign will be held in barangays Canduman, Paknaan, Tingub and Cabancalan in Mandaue City.
Another activity is the showing of "Inconvenient Truth," a movie about global warming. – Ferliza C. Contratista/BRP
