Bevencia Rama, 27, suffered several stab wounds in her back and failed to reach the South General Hospital alive. Her 30-year-old husband Judy, a laborer, fled immediately after the incident.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim and her husband held grudges against one another in the past.
Investigator SPO1 Edgar Causon yesterday told The Freeman that it was a problem between the spouses that he however could not divulge due to its private nature.
In November last year, while Judy was working in Cagayan de Oro City, his mother-in-law Isidra Canoy called him up to tell him about a problem at home. She told the entire story when Judy went home.
Judy, however, understood about the problem and still took Bevencia to his fold. The couple later lived in Cebu City and had two children. About three months ago, they moved to San Fernando.
At about 10 p.m. last Saturday, Bevencia reported to the police station that Judy beat her up. She showed to the police old bruises and cut in her lip that she got when her husband battered her up last April 9.
When Bevencia was killed the following day, the police surmised that the husband might have been angry at her for reporting the beatings to them.
Causon said he advised the victim''s relatives to file parricide case against Judy after Bevencia is laid to rest. - Norvie S. Misa/RAE
