Woman killed in road accident

A woman was killed while 13 other people were injured in a vehicular accident involving three vehicles in barangay Sangat, San Fernando town, the other day. Police identified the fatality as Lorena Relis, 38, of barangay Tagbobonga, Asturias town.

The injured who were taken to the South General Hospital in Naga town were identified as Marino Soten Jr., 47, his wife Jenelita and his daughter Jocelyn 16, of Cambinucot, Cebu City; Amy Vasquez, 46, and his wife Adeliza, of Tagbobonga, Asturias; Marieluna Suplao, 22, of Tagbobonga, Asturias; Aileen Alconada, 15 of Cambinucot, Cebu City; Victoriano Varsuta and Marvin Roy Varsuta, 13, of Cambinucot; Christopher Vasquez, 25, single of Tagbobonga; Leonila Generola, 64, married of Capangian, Tinubdan, San Fernando; Constantino Engayo, married of Sangat, San Fernando and Lorlain Boss of Pakigne, Minglanilla

SPO1 Leo Amores of San Fernando Police Station yesterday said that the multicab with plate number GPN-144 driven by Victoriano Varsuta, of Cambinucot, Cebu City, was heading to Cebu City from Carcar town when the motorcycle driven by Engayo with plate number IK-4036 overtook it from behind.

After overtaking the multicab the motorcycle was hit by the car driven by Boss with plate number TMA-242, which was coming from the opposite direction.

The impact of the collision threw motorcycle against the tailing multicab where most of the injured were. The multicab then lost control and turned turtle. Amores said that responding traffic officer led by SPO2 Victor Cuyno immediately responded the alarm and brought all the injured persons to the hospital where Relis later died. - Norvie S. Misa/BRP
