Boy, 16, stabs older brother dead
March 26, 2007 | 12:00am
A 4th year high school student was killed by his own brother after a heated argument over a lost bolo called a "plamingko" yesterday morning in sitio Toong, barangay Basak-San Nicolas.
The 17-year-old victim, who was expected to graduate before month’s end, sustained a single but precise stab wound to the left side of his chest and never made it alive to the hospital.
SPO2 Rey Cuyos of the Homicide Section said the victim was playing volleyball when the suspect approached him and asked about the plamingko owned by their grandmother.
Witnesses told police that the brothers had a heated argument that led to a fistfight but the older victim outfought the suspect prompting the latter to pull out a knife and stab the victim once in the left side of the chest.
The assailant ran as he saw the victim clutching his chest and collapse to the ground.
The victim was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians. The assailant was nowhere to be found when the police came to their house.
Cuyos said that the mother of the siblings claimed she doesn’t know where the suspect went after he fled the scene.
But investigators will still be filing parricide charges against the suspect even without the cooperation of the parents as the act went against the law.  Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
