Danao CH worker killed by co-worker

An employee of the Danao City Hall died before reaching the hospital after he was shot by a co-worker last Friday night following a heated argument between them ensued in the vicinity of the city hall located in barangay Poblacion.
Police identified the victim as Danilo Avila, 40, a watchman of the city hall, and a resident of barangay Guinacot, of the city, while the suspect identified as Benito Lavador, a driver, and a resident of sitio Taboc, barangay Guinacot of the city.
SPO3 Edgar Gomez, Desk Officer of Danao City Police Station, yesterday told the Freeman that at about 7:10 p.m., Avila and his co-worker Nicanor Flores were on duty as watchmen at the Danao City Hall.
Aside from watching the administrative building, the victim and Flores are also assigned to guard all the building offices of the city hall including the public market, Gomez said.
Then they met with the suspect in front of the traffic enforcers office then the two got into an argument, but they were later pacified by the members of the station's Special Operations Group.
At about 7:30, Avila and Flores were on their way home still at the vicinity of the city hall fronting the BIR office, when suspect suddenly drove up beside them in a multicab and shot Avila with a gun of still undetermined caliber.
The victim was shot in the chest with the slug exiting from his back. He was rushed to the Danao District Hospital for treatment then later rushed to a hospital in Cebu City but was declared dead on arrival. - Norvie S. Misa/BRP
