Man shot dead after argument over fare

Two men were killed in separate incidents last Thursday evening, one of them was a passenger of a jeepney who figured an argument with the vehicle's conductor along Osmeña Boulevard near the DOH-7 office while the other was a tricycle driver who was shot by his passengers.

The first victim, who has yet to be identified, is believed to be in his 30's and was wearing a shirt and gray pants. No other documents or identification was found on him.

The victim was allegedly stabbed several times by the conductor of a Mandaue-bound playing the 21B route, the alleged assailant who immediately escaped was identified as Edmundo Enclamar, of Estancia, Ibabao, Mandaue City.

The suspect is the conductor of jeepney driver Loreto Lubon, 26, who is also his neighbor.

Homicide investigators said that the victim was disembarking when Enclamar asked for his fare, but the victim reportedly refused and this led to a heated argument.

The victim eventually lost his cool and punched Enclamar who pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times, when the victim slumped to the ground Enclamar hurriedly left the area.

PO1 Emmanuel Blones of the Fuente Osmeña police station who responded in the area rushed the man to Cebu City Medical Center but he did not make it there alive.

Half an hour before that incident, a tricycle driver was shot by one of his passengers along sitio Taytayan in barangay Buhisan.

The fatality was identified as Joel Luzon, 42, a resident of sitio Proper, barangay Punta Princesa.

Witnesses told the police that the victim had two passengers onboard with him when he arrived at the said place but one of them reportedly approached the victim and shot him once in the chest.

The victim was killed on the spot while the suspects hurriedly left the area. Buhisan chief tanod, Teodoro Canillo and Mobile Patrol Group personnel PO2 Arisio Monroid and PO1 Mark Eric Sy who responded to the alarm failed to arrest the fleeing suspects.
