A 19-year-old man reportedly committed suicide after he failed to help his girlfriend who accidentally fell into a ravine while they were on a date Wednesday night in barangay Libo-o, Ronda town.
Daniel Bucog, a resident of the place, was discovered by his elder sister Josephine already hanging from a mahogany tree.
Based on the investigation conducted by the Ronda police, Bucog was last seen walking together with his 16-year-old girlfriend when she reportedly accidentally fell into the ravine.
Bucog then rushed to their house to ask for help from his father but was ignored. Bucog then left their house, but Josephine, bothered by his younger brother's report, followed him to place of the accident an hour later.
But upon reaching the place, she was surprised to see his brother already hanging from a mahogany tree. She then shouted for help but as neighbors untied him, he was no longer breathing.
Bucog's girlfriend, who was retrieved by their neighbors from the ravine, was immediately brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. She is now in critical condition.
SPOI Jerome Pardo of the Ronda Police Station said they are still conducting further investigation into the case.
