Police car collides with bike, two hurt

-
Two minors landed in the hospital after their motorcycle collided with a Mobile Patrol Group patrol car at the corner of J. Osmeña and M. Yap streets in barangay Camputhaw the other night. The motorcycle driver was later found to be driving without a license.

The police car that hit the two minors is a Toyota Innova with plate number SHN-896 owned by the city government and driven by Insp. Rex Campos who was then on his way to barangay Guadalupe to respond to an alarm.

Traffic investigator SPO1 Nelson Jaime said the victims, both aged 17 and residents of barangay Punay, Aloguinsan town, were onboard a Suzuki motorcycle with plate number IG-1917 when the police car hit them. They were thrown several meters away and landed on the street.

The patrol car sustained heavy damage to its front and the windshield was smashed, but Campos was unhurt and called for assistance to bring the two teenagers to the hospital.

The motorcycle passenger was seriously hurt while the driver suffered only several bruises. Both are still recuperating at Cebu City Medical Center.

Jaime said the driver already violated the Traffic Code by driving without a license but added they have yet to investigate both parties to determine what caused the accident.
