The FREEMAN Foundation sets bloodletting on Feb 14

The FREEMAN Foundation, the heart of The FREEMAN, will spearhead a bloodletting activity on Valentine's Day as one of special projects lined up for this year.

Dubbed "Raise the Red Lifeline on a V. Day," the project is in coordination with the Regional Blood Coordinating Council to raise awareness on how blood becomes a precious gift on a Valentine's Day as it serves to prolong the life of one in need.

The Freeman Foundation administrator Dr. Remedios Bacasmas said the bloodletting activity, which will start at 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., is not only exclusive to TF employees but is also open to others who are interested to donate blood. Bacasmas also called on the members of the tri-media to participate in this worthwhile project.

"Manawagan ta's atong mga kaubanan sa buhat, members of the media, also mga in-school and out-of-school youths; our readers or subscribers, donors and partners of the Foundation. Welcome kaayo sila tanan on that day to donate blood here at The FREEMAN Administration building," Bacasmas said.

A record of blood types will also be compiled so that in times of emergency, it would be easy to trace blood donors, Bacasmas added.

The Freeman Foundation received a commendation from the Department of Health - 7 for its voluntary blood donation project in 2005. The blood donors then were mostly employees from the company.

Regional Blood Coordinating Council president and chairman of the board Jovita Ceniza said "the Filipino people have been given the chance to enjoy life to the fullest through the units of fresh whole blood the Foundation donated."

"Ipagpatuloy natin yung ating magandang nasimulan. Maganda yung ipinakitang example ng Freeman employees na mismong nag-donate ng dugo, sana mas marami pa'ng kusang-loob na mag-participate this coming Wednesday to benefit more lives," TF general manager Melandro "Boy" Mendoza said. - Maria Eleanor E.
