Kintanar files candidacy, first to do so for local post

Former provincial prosecutor Oliveros Kintanar became the first candidate for a local post after he filed at the Comelec his certificate of candidacy for provincial board member in the May 14 elections.
Kintanar filed his candidacy at 9:45 a.m. yesterday saying he was motivated by the decision of former governor, Pablo Garcia, to run for congressman of the Second District.
"The main reason that gave me the motivation to run for the PB was the decision of former governor Pablo Garcia to represent the second district in Congress," Kintanar said.
Kintanar said that running for an elective position in his district has become irrelevant to him but, when Pabling decided to run, he saw it an opportunity to serve the district in other capacity with the combined leadership of Pabling and incumbent Governor Gwen Garcia.
"The constituent of the district is thankful and proud of this providential development as it has always been and still is there hope and prayers to have a congressman with the caliber of 'Nong Pabling whose competence is acknowledge nationwide," said Kintanar.
Kintanar said he opted to run as an independent candidate because he was uncertain that he would be taken in for the slate of the Garcias, and that he would rather not disturb whatever the final line up of the Garcias is by now.
"I run as an independent in the sense that I have no political party but I will be campaigning for Governor Gwen and 'Nong Pabling," he said.
Kintanar said that choosing a leader should not be tainted with personal attachment and compassion, and it should be based instead on who is the most sincere and competent to serve the people. - Gregg M. Rubio/RAE
