Pagasa: Weather will improve

-
The weather in Cebu will improve in the coming days in time for the ASEAN Summit, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

Pagasa Weather forecaster Rene Paciente said that Cebu's weather condition is expected to improve in the coming days but rains will still continue to pour because of the intertropical convergence zone that is affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

Paciente said that no tropical cyclone or low pressure area has been sighted outside or within the Philippine area of responsibility that will hamper the conduct of the summit, which will start this week.

The 12th ASEAN Summit, which was earlier scheduled for December 10 to 15 last year was postponed because of the Typhoon Seniang, which threatened Cebu and the neighboring provinces. The typhoon was expected to hit Cebu at about the same time as delegates and heads of states of the ASEAN member countries are expected to arrive. The typhoon, however, spared Cebu and only caused minor damage in the northern part of the province. - Jasmin R. Uy
