New Zealander arrested for pending estafa case

-
Fuente Station policemen arrested yesterday a New Zealander who has been wanted for estafa due to his alleged refusal to pay his bills for food and accommodation at Warren's Beach Resort in San Remegio two years ago.

SPO2 Samson Go, of the Fuente Police, said Francis Ernest Robertson, 49, was arrested at the Sideline Restaurant in J. Osmeña Boulevard on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court-branch 61 judge Antonio Marigomen.

Robertson, a barrister in his country and is married to a Filipina, has been staying at Hotel Le Carmen, near the restaurant. He is now detained at the Fuente Police station.

The beach resort's lawyer, Vicente Fernandez II, alleged that Robertson also made some derogatory remarks against him, the Filipinos, the Philippine government and its laws.

Fernandez said the New Zealander even criticized the Philippine government as unstable, corrupt and without integrity.

Robertson even called Filipinos as "pigs", the lawyer alleged adding that he hoped those attacks against Filipinos are not the general view of New Zealanders. -Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/RAE
