One man was killed while a couple landed in the hospital in two separate hacking incidents in the towns of Argao and Badian respectively the other night.
The first incident took place in barangay Mompeller, Argao when 45-year-old Arsenio Daugdaug was killed after being allegedly hacked inside the Purok Center by barangay tanod Alan Cutillar about 6:20 p.m. Friday.
Cutillar reportedly used a sickle and a long curved bladed weapon known as "lagarao" in hacking Daugdaug, who was hit in different parts of his body. The victim was rushed to Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Argao police chief S/Insp. Crisanto Doque yesterday told The Freeman that during their manhunt operation, they arrested the suspect in Cantularoy, Sibonga town around 12 noon yesterday.
Doque said Cutillar claimed that he killed the victim for always mocking him. "Ang iyang alegasyon, gibugalbugalan man kuno siya unya gisultihan og di maayong pulong mao ra to ang hinungdan."
However, Doque admitted that responding policemen failed to recover the weapons used in the killing, saying that they are now preparing charges against the suspect.
In Badian town, a couple was also hacked by their father while having dinner inside their house in barangay Sohoton Friday night.
Lucrito Dohinog and his wife Cirila, both 39 years old, were immediately brought to the Badian District Hospital after they were allegedly hacked by her father, German Amorado.
Initial police investigation revealed that while having dinner around 6:30 p.m., Amorado suddenly entered their house and attacked them for unknown reason using a scythe, hitting them in the different parts of their bodies.
The motive of the incident was not yet determined but the suspect was later arrested by the responding policemen and is now detained at Badian municipal jail.
PO3 Ronald Elcana yesterday told The Freeman that the suspect said he did not know why he attacked the couple since he was drunk during that time.
"Niingon siya nga nakainom siya, unya wa kuno siya kahibalo nga iyang natigbasan ang magti-ayon. Unya og among pangutan-on unsay hinungdan sa iyang pagpanigbas, di pud siya motug-an," Elcana said.
Elcana believed that a personal grudge was the possible motive of the incident. He said the victims, who are still recuperating at the hospital, are willing to file charges against their father. - Norvie S. Misa
