Pacquiao fan in Toledo dies while watching bout

While millions of fans of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao are still celebrating his win against Erik "El Terrible" Morales, the relatives of a 47-year-old heavy equipment operator are mourning over the latter's death after he reportedly suffered a heart attack last Sunday while watching the boxing match.

In a report over TV Patrol Cebu, the fan was identified as George Bunag, a resident of barangay Awihao, Toledo. He had a heart attack after Pacquiao hit Morales in the third round.

"Pagkatumba gyud ni Morales nikalit lang siya (George) og tumba ug sige'g hikap sa iyang dughan. Lipay gyud kaayo siya nga nidaug si Pacquiao," Lydia, wife of the victim, told TV Patrol Cebu.

It was learned that Bunag was an amateur boxer during his younger days in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.

"Kalit gyud kaayo to kay tan-aw nako niya excited gyud kaayo siya sa fight ni Pacquiao," Lydia said.

"Dili man unta to mahitabo kon niabot pa og 12 rounds kay padu'ng na man unta siya sa iyang trabaho-an, pero gi-atngan man gyud niya," Jeofrey, a son of George, said.

Toledo City Mayor Arlene "Daydee" Zambo yesterday assured the family of Bunag that the city government will be giving out financial assistance to them. - Ramil V. Ayuman
