The victim, William Vilarino, died on the spot from multiple hack and stab wounds in various parts of his body.
The suspected killer was his drinking partner, Ben Pampanga, a bachelor from Calbayog City in Samar, who is now detained at the town police holding cell.
Initial police investigations showed that the two men had been drinking when they got into an argument. It was later known that the cause of their argument was personal grudge. Bantayan Police desk officer PO3 Roberto Mangubat said that Pampanga was arrested immediately after the killing when a tanod and residents alerted the police via phone calls.
Mangubat said Pampanga is now detained at the police holding cell while the bolo and the knife used in the killing were recovered from the crime scene and is now in police custody. - Norvie S. Misa/RAE
