The taxi driver who had figured in the road incident that led to the relief of the controversial policeman PO2 Junicar Estiñoso fought off two men who robbed him along General Maxilom Avenue the other night.
Based on a report at Parian Police Station, Lourdeso Castro, 47, of Dungguan, Danao City, was robbed by Cloper Milla, 21, and Fritz Gerald Dela Cerna, both residents of barangay Lorega-San Miguel.
SPO3 Rodrigo Mangubat of the Parian Police Station told reporters that the suspects boarded the victim's taxicab along Echavez Street for Fuente Osmeña.
While traveling along General Maxilom Avenue, Mangubat said Dela Cerna declared the robbery and Milla immediately pointed a knife at Castro but the victim managed to parry it with his left hand.
But the suspects were able get away with the P300 earnings of Castro, who managed to chase them despite being wounded in his left arm. Dela Cerna was however arrested later by another taxi driver who was responding to the incident.
Mangubat said Castro chased Milla until the suspect was arrested along Echavez Street with the assistance of the bystanders who later mauled him.
