A 23-year-old man got shot and wounded for his gallant act of intervening and preventing another man from hurting a woman in front of a store at Morello Subdivision in barangay Quiot yesterday dawn.
Michael Demol, a resident of sitio Oyda of the same barangay, was hit in the abdomen and both legs, and was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center.
The suspected gunman hurriedly left the scene before the policemen arrived and investigators are now working for his identification and the motive of the shooting.
Homicide investigators so far said that Demol was with a 15-year-old cousin in going to a sari-sari store to buy cigarettes.
They saw at the store another cousin, Lindon dela Cerna, who was with another woman named "Ann."
While they were talking, an unidentified man reportedly approached them and, without any provocation, slapped Ann in the face. This prompted Demol to confront the man and asked why he did it.
The man, however, drew a handgun of still undetermined caliber, and shot Demol. - Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
