Fil-Chinese Chamber warns members of yuletide crimes

The Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry warned its members to be extra careful in the light of recent robbery incidents and in anticipation of the rise of crime within the next month because of the Christmas season.

Filomeno Lim, president of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, said he issued a memorandum circular two weeks ago reminding all his members to adopt precautionary measures to prevent themselves from falling victims to crimes.

Lim said the business sector is expecting a rise in petty crimes within the next month because of the Christmas season.

"Gipahinumduman lang nato ang atong mga membro nga magbantay. Dili magpasaya-saya," Lim told dyLA.

Lim also said that their organization has no official stand on the recent vigilante-style killings in Cebu.

"Hilom lang mi sa vigilante killings kay daghang conflicting nga mga baruganan," he said.

Lim however said that as a Christian he is personally against it.

Lim's also belied earlier suspicions that some businessmen are funding the vigilantes because it was beneficial to them. But he did not make a categorical answer if it indeed benefited them or not. - Fred P. Languido/BRP
