Mayor Tomas Osmeña yesterday said the city government is willing to give the land and building of Cebu City Medical Center to Cebu Provincial government if Governor Gwen Garcia will assume the payment of all employees especially those who are retiring.
Osmeña said he is serious with his deal that Gov. Garcia will take over the hospital's management and operations.
"Of course I am serious and I am willing to give it up. Better tell the governor in advance that part of the deal is that they have to take over and assume all the employees because that was very expensive because I have to pay all the retirements and everything. And if she is willing to take care, I am willing to give the land and building," Osmeña said.
The other day Garcia tasked the provincial legal officer to create a technical working group and come up with recommendations on how CCMC can cater to both the city and provincial constituents.
Osmeña said he is proposing that the city government set up a new emergency room for Cebu City constituents.
Meanwhile, councilor Chris Alix, chairman on Committee on Health, yesterday assured CCMC employees that they will not be assigned outside CCMC once the city hospital will be taken over by the province.
"Dunay scheme ani nga both beneficial to city and province residents. And I don't think nga dunay ma-affect nga employees kay nobody is going to be terminated," Alix promised. - Ramil V. Ayuman
