Violations noted in permit entries: Gay bar raid nets 11 male strippers

- Edwin Ian Melecio -
The Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board yesterday scored against business establishments allegedly operating immoral shows when a police team acting on a complaint swooped down on a gay bar in Banilad at dawn and arrested at least 13 people.

Of the 13 arrested, 11 were male dancers of the Naughty Ka resto bar who were allegedly caught in the act of performing erotic dances while naked.

The police led by Chief Inspector Fermin Armendares III raided the bar on receiving a letter-complaint from CAIB chairman, Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer, who informed the police of the alleged lewd shows being held at the gaybar.

According to Armendares, the CAIB sent the letter-complaint after it received information about a "big night" that would be staged actually on two nights, on October 13 and 14.

The said bar is reportedly popular among gays and some females, police said.

But the CIDG received the letter only after October 13 and 14, thus missing the "big night" that the police believed might be packed with customers and possibly more provocative lewd shows.

Still, after receiving the said letter on Monday, a team of operatives were sent to verify and conduct surveillance and found the information about the shows to be true.

Last Friday evening, another team of policemen posed as gay customers at the bar and promptly made arrests as soon as the lewd shows started.

One of the policemen said the male macho dancers initially danced properly to the music but eventually gave in to the customers calls for something more - which was to do a striptease.

The striptease involved the total removal of their already skimpy wear, thus exposing their genitals to the full view of the customers.

As the customers roared and screamed in approval, the police sprang into action and arrested the dancers.

They also collared the alleged floor manager, a certain Orlan Montero, as well as the bar officer in charge, one Jun Cervantes.

Armendares said that upon verification of the permit issued by the Department of Trade and Industry, it was euphemistically spelled on paper as "Nutty CA" and was owned by a certain Jomari Cuizon. But further checks showed it was really owned by a certain Dan Anton, owner of Club Notes in Guadalupe which was also ordered closed for unspecified violations to its permit.

All those arrested are expected to be charged on Monday. ( /JST )
