The girl alleged that her stepfather, 54-year-old Floro Antiquena, raped her twice last March, once last April, and then again last September.
Inspector Juan Casipong, chief of the Dumanjug Police, yesterday told The Freeman that the girl first revealed the matter to her mother after the latter asked her to explain the noticeable changes in her appearance.
She told the police that the first alleged rape took place one evening last March when her mother was in Cebu City to deliver bananas. More rapes took place usually it was on Wednesdays and Sundays, or every time her mother was in the city.
The victim further alleged that the suspect had threatened her that he would kill her and her family if she would tell any body about what happened.
The victim cried while telling her alleged ordeal to her mother but Antiquena, who was just around, overheard them and immediately fled from the house.
"Pagsukit-sukit gyud sa inahan sa iyang anak diha ang suspek nakapaminaw ni mao tong nakasibat dayon," said Casipong.
The mother and the barangay captain accompanied the victim in reporting the case to the police, who then took her to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center here in Cebu City for medical examination.
Casipong said the police is now preparing to file a case in court against Antiquena, and are just waiting for the examination results.
Meanwhile in Daanbantayan that same Thursday afternoon, a five-year-old girl reported that a neighbor sexually molested her.
The suspect was identified as Roque Reyes and the police are still conducting follow-up operations to arrest him.
Initial investigations showed that, while the girl was playing alone in their house, Reyes allegedly arrived and handed her P2 then molested her. The suspect later left the house and went into hiding. - Norvie S. Misa
