DepEd launches new 4-digit text hotline

-
The Department of Education has updated its short message service dubbed "DETxt 2622" by replacing the 11-digit number to just number codes as it ties up with Globe and Smart telecommunications, the country's two leading networks.

DETxt 2622 service is available to Globe, Touch Mobile, Smart and Talk 'N Text subscribers. It will automatically send important information and announcements from the DepEd such as the declaration of no classes due to weather disturbances, schedules of national tests for students, press releases and school holidays. The text hotline service will let Philippine mobile phone subscribers send inquiries, feedback, and complaints to the DepEd.

Education Undersecretary for Finance and Administration Juan Miguel Luz said the service, in particular, is aimed at eliminating confusion on the cancellation of classes.

Luz also said that subscribers will be charged P2.50 for every text message they receive. Sending messages will cost P1. Send ON DEPED for Globe and DEPED ON for Smart to 2622.

Subscribers can also send feedback and complaints by typing DEPED FDBK, and also DEPED HELP to 2622. Non-subscribers and or the general public can send complaints and feedback by typing DEPED FDBK and send to 2622. - Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV
