Dodong Gullas visits his projects as congressman of First District

Former Cebu Province First District Congressman Jose "Dodong" Gullas is embarking on a "sentimental journey" by visiting the various projects he initiated during his term in 2001 to 2004.

Gullas held the position for only one term and did not anymore seek reelection. His elder brother Eduardo, who has served the district for several terms, is currently holding the position. Last Thursday before the birthday of Mother Mary, Gullas went to the Sacred Statue of the Blessed Mother at the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist Marian Monks of the Eucharistic Adoration in Upper Lindogon, barangay Simala, Sibonga.

When asked about his regular visits to the towns of Carcar and Sibonga, Gullas said, "the reason why I am coming here - this is a sentimental journey for me." His wife, Nena, accompanies him in his visits.

The first district is composed of Talisay City, Minglanilla, Naga, San Fernando, Carcar and Sibonga.

From the shrine, Gullas immediately proceeded to Sibonga National High School were he was responsible in the construction of 18 classrooms. But overall, 27 classrooms were constructed in Sibonga with the total appropriation of P10.45 million.

In his visit in Sibonga, Gullas promised to give at least 10 computers for use of the high school students before the end of October, which he said he will have his brother, Eddie, give to the school.

He also visited Carcar National High School, where he was responsible for the construction of 46 classrooms worth P17.921 million.

"I like to know the condition of the classrooms that I had constructed during my term. This really touches my heart," Gullas said as he downplayed speculations that he will again run for a congressional seat in the district.

He said that he definitely will not seek the position he once held since he will be filing his certificate of transfer of residency today or tomorrow from Minglanilla town to barangay Guba, Cebu City. - Garry B. Lao
