Gov't offices encouraged to extol the civil servant

The Civil Service Commission is encouraging government offices to conduct activities giving importance to the civil servant.

The National CSC, through Secretary Karina Constantino David, sent a directive to all government offices encouraging them to undertake "Bida Ka!" and "Koleksyon ng Yamang Pangkaisipan", activities that give tribute to more than 1.5-million strong government workforce.

The activities will be conducted in celebration of the 106th year of the Philippine Civil Service for the whole month of September.

The "Bida Ka!" activity will highlight the role or the contribution of a specific sector or selected group of employees.

Agencies shall identify their "Bida Ka!" group and shall draw activities or simple ways of honoring and giving tribute to them.

The "Koleksyon ng Yamang Pangkaisipan" is the establishment of an exhibit, an open house or a library wherein government employees will display their literary compositions, can be work or not related to work.

These literary compositions may be poems, essays, songs, including theses, country papers, research and printed articles.

Also included in Open House activities are the agencies programs, products, services in order to generate or raise public awareness.

Inter-agency service fair that features government frontline services in one venue are also expected to be set up and organized in the regional or provincial level to provide one stop shop for the transacting public.

There will also be a "Retirees Homecoming Day", another way of paying tribute to them and their respective contributions.

It will be a month-long celebration but on September 18 there will be a simultaneous flag-raising nationwide to be attended by the government work force who will recite the civil servant's oath "Panunumpa ng Lingkod Bayan". - Ferliza C. Contratista/BRP
