Talisay CH building lacks some upkeep
July 8, 2006 | 12:00am
The five-year-old Talisay City Hall building is showing signs of either aging or poor workmanship. Or neglect.
Consider: In some areas, the walls are showing cracks, floor tiles are popping up, and the toilets need some plumbing.
Vice Mayor Aberdovey Belleza ordered Councilor Rodi Cabigas, during the council's session last Thursday, to investigate.
Cabigas, who chairs the committee on public works and infrastructure, in an interview with The Freeman, said he would write a letter to the City Engineer's Office (CEO) regarding the matter.
Cabigas said there was a time when the maintenance department had to destroy a part of the ceiling of the ground floor to do some plumbing.
Complaints regarding clogged toilets are just one of the problems plaguing city hall, he said.
Cabigas said he would have to wait for a recommendation from the CEO, which would inspect the problems before reporting to the council.
Cabigas would also make his own ocular inspection of the offices, which reportedly have cracks on the walls.
The three-story structure cost the city at least P135 million, and its four-hectare lot on which it stands was purchased for P102 million. - Liv G. Campo
