DepEd bans notebooks with lewd designs
July 1, 2006 | 12:00am
The Department of Education has banned the distribution in all public and private elementary and secondary schools nationwide of notebooks and other school materials with designs that actively promote and encourage obscenity.
In an order, Education officer-in-charge Fe Hidalgo said that they have received reports on the alleged proliferation of school materials with designs that openly promote obscenity.
"Considering the accessibility of the said products in the market, their continued circulation will exact a heavy toll on the sensibilities of impressionable pupils and students," Hidalgo said.
Hidalgo urged school officials to closely monitor the distribution and use of the products in the school premises. Those found in possession of the same must be dealt with by immediate and appropriate sanctions. - Jasmin R. Uy
