Andok's in Tabunok has license to sell liquor

-
Andok's Lechon Manok, which was blamed by a homeowners' association for the trouble that would crop up in its vicinity for selling liquor, has not violated any law after all. It has a license to sell liquor, beer, and cigarettes.

Mayor Socrates Fernandez said all the city can do is to assign policemen to the area at all times to foil trouble.

However, Andok's application for renewal of its license came late, according to License Inspector Vernie Caneda of the City Licensing Office.

He said it has not renewed its license since 2005. Its renewal is temporarily being withheld, and that Vice Mayor Aberdovey Belleza is still to meet Andok's representatives to discuss the matter.

Andok's Lechon Manok, which occupies a place in a parking lot of a mall in barangay Tabunok is being accused by the Tabunok Association of Homeowners United in Millennium-2000 (TAHUM-2000) for being the root cause of trouble in the area.

People come here to eat and drink. Recently, a allegedly tipsy policeman, a member of the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime, was alleged to have hit a taxi driver for refusing to give him and his friends a lift.

Acting City Police Chief Romeo Perigo, in an interview with The Freeman, said PO2 Leopoldo Falconet told the police his own version of the story.

Perigo said he had advised the driver, who came to the station to report the incident, to get a medical certificate as basis for his filing a criminal suit against Falconet. But driver did not show up, so no case was filed.

Fernandez has ordered the police to watch the area every night. - Liv G. Campo
