Sanitation team chief hits display of exotic animals along Escario

-
Cebu Environmental Sanitation Enforcement Team chief Samuel Dy yesterday questioned why vendors were able to display their exotic birds and other wildlife animals along Escario Street the other day despite the lack of business permits.

Last June 1, CESET personnel and the city revenue taskforce confiscated assorted exotic birds and other pets illegally displayed along Escario Street in barangay Camputhaw.

"I am sure dili gyud na sila ma-isyohan ug business permit pero ambot kinsay ilang kapit nga nibalik man sila,"Dy said.

Dy stressed that although the vendors have permits from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to sell wildlife animals, the city government still has to issue business permits for their operation.

CESET will ask DENR ecosystem management specialist Reynaldo Yray about why vendors still managed to display those wildlife animals along the street.

Maribel Abella, an exotic bird vendor, earlier said that they would ask the city government to grant them business permits since they already obtained wildlife permits from the DENR. - Ramil V. Ayuman
